Erdogan invited Putin, Aliyev and Pashinyan to hold a meeting on Karabakh

The Turkish side invited the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan to hold a quadrilateral meeting on the situation with Nagorno-Karabakh. This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a briefing before flying to the United States for the UN General Assembly.
“We made a proposal to hold a trilateral meeting, even a quadrilateral meeting on the situation in Karabakh with my participation and with [президентом России Владимиром] Putin, [президентом Азербайджана] Ilham Aliyev and [премьер-министр Армении Николом] Pashinyan,” he said (quote according to RIA Novosti).
According to him, Ankara has not yet received a response to its proposal.
On September 16, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev told TASS that Baku expects to conclude a peace treaty with Armenia by the end of the year. At the same time, the Azerbaijani authorities call on Yerevan to record recognition of the territorial integrity of the republic.
The aggravation of the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh has been going on since September 2020, when fighting began in the region between the militaries of the two countries. As a result, a tripartite statement was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The situation around the region deteriorated again in 2022, when the Azerbaijani State Border Service established a checkpoint in the Lachin corridor, on the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia.
