Four kindergartens and one supervision group in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk registered outbreaks of enterovirus infection, the regional Rospotrebnadzor reported. According to him, five people were injured. TASS, citing local media, writes that 11 people were infected in kindergarten No. 28 alone.
“Group cases of enterovirus infection with the number of victims of 5 people were formed in kindergartens in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk No. 28, 11, 35, 49 and in the care group “Krokha”, associated with the introduction of infection into organized groups,”— says in a press release on the website of the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor.
Enteroviral infections are a group of acute infectious diseases caused by intestinal viruses (enteroviruses). Most often, children aged 3 to 10 years are sick. It is characterized by an increase in body temperature up to 38-39C, among other symptoms – weakness, drowsiness, headache, nausea, vomiting, cervical and submandibular lymph nodes also increase.
