Enough work – Moskovskaya Pravda

100 years ago, Moscow decided to create a single commission to combat counter-revolution.

A document preserved in the archives with the caption “Resolutions of the Presidium Sovtov R.S. and K.D. of Moscow and the Moscow region dated 4/III – 1918. contains dozens of items on a variety of topics. And between the questions about regulating the receipt of money by workers and about relations with anarchists, the column “Listened” read: “On the fight against counter-revolution.”

The entry in the “Resolved” column turned out to be relatively short in order not to retell it, but to quote it in its entirety, only bringing it into line with the rules of modern spelling:

“1. Recognize it as necessary that all departments in charge of the political part merge into one commission for the struggle against counter-revolution, which is attached to the Presidium.

2. All commissions in charge of the fight against counter-revolution (the Commission for the fight against the revolution at the headquarters of the Red Guard, the political department at the headquarters of the Moscow Military District and the commission for the fight against counter-revolution) are obliged to hand over to it all materials and archives as soon as possible at the request of the commission for the fight against counter-revolution at the Presidium.
3. Recognize it as necessary to organize a temporary responsible team of the named commission, consisting of comrades. Yanushevsky, Artishevsky, Budzinsky and Kursky.
4. To instruct Comrade Magerovsky to organize the named commission for the fight against counter-revolution

Over the centuries, this body has changed its name more than once, and the main tasks have been formulated in a different way. So now the Directorate of the Federal Security Service of Russia for Moscow and the Moscow Region is not fighting against counter-revolution, but against espionage, smuggling of military equipment, terrorism, false reports of terrorist attacks … In general, there is enough work.
