Ukrainian media reported about the detention of two employees of the Ukrainian military registration and enlistment offices in Ternopil and Vinnytsia for bribes.
Reportedly, in Ternopil, an employee of the military registration and enlistment office demanded and received 6,000 dollars from the soldier so that he continued his service in Ternopil and was not sent to the combat zone. Now an employee of the military registration and enlistment office faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
In addition, in Vinnytsia, an employee of the military registration and enlistment office demanded a bribe for help in draft evasion. He organized a scheme to receive money from those liable for military service for help in evading military service for mobilization. For his services, an employee of the military registration and enlistment office took 2 thousand dollars, he faces up to five years in prison.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that all regional military commissars would be fired, and those who wished to retain their rank would be sent to the war zone, and those with combat experience would be appointed to their positions. Oleksandr Novikov, director of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) of Ukraine, disagreed with him. According to him, the majority of employees of the military commissariats “are respectable”, and the mass dismissal of the military commissars will not solve the problems of recruits fleeing abroad.
