In the city of Malgobek in Ingushetia, due to lack of water, an emergency regime (ES) has been introduced. According to Musa Galayev, the mayor of the city, the problem with water supply arose due to a breakdown of pumps.
“Water tower equipment is one hundred percent worn out, a new one has been ordered, but it takes time until it is brought and installed,” the city administration explained. They noted that according to the emergency regime, water supply was organized to city organizations, social and medical institutions.
Residents of Malgobek and nearby settlements claim that they have been experiencing problems with water supply for a long time and systematically. “We are regularly left without water, it does not happen for weeks,” the interlocutors of Kommersant complained. The authorities explain the current situation by the lack of funds to replace old equipment with new one: “People do not pay for water, where will we get the money from?”
