In nine municipalities of Primorsky Krai, a state of emergency was introduced due to a sharp rise in water levels under the influence of Typhoon Hanun. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the region.
“Yesterday in a day they introduced it in seven municipalities … and today they allocated nine – new emergencies were added – specifically because of the latest overflows,” RIA Novosti was told in the press service of the ministry.
The state of emergency was introduced in the Lazovsky, Chernigov, Khorolsky, Oktyabrsky districts, in the urban district of Spassk-Dalny, in Mikhailovsky, Yakovlevsky, Nadezhdinsky, Spassky districts. Prior to this, the state of emergency was introduced in the Vladivostok, Lesozavodsk and Ussuriysk urban districts, Krasnoarmeisky and Partizansky districts, Anuchinsky district.
Due to the rapid rise in water, rescuers are evacuating residents of the riverside part of the city of Spassk-Dalny, and are also taking residents of Ussuriysk out of the flooded areas.
On August 8, the Primorye Hydrometeorological Center announced a storm warning. Due to Typhoon Hanun and the polar front, on August 10–12, Primorsky Krai may experience from 50% to 110% of the monthly rainfall.
On the night of August 11, the most precipitation fell in Ussuriysk and in the western regions of the region. To contain the flood in Ussuriysk, a dam was built. Her broke through tonight, August 12th.
In the region, 32 settlements were cut off from communication, 543 private houses and 1429 land plots, 40 sections of roads were flooded. Because of the flood died brothers of ten and twelve years old near the village of Dalzavodskoye.
