Elena Sever about her mission in Donbass: “we won’t stand up for the price”

“We were very much expected in the department of premature babies of the Third City Hospital”

Singer, actress and TV presenter Elena Sever together with her sons, popular performers YurKiss and Vladimir, visited medical clinics in Donbass on the eve of the Medical Worker’s Day. On June 11, the artists went to the long-suffering Donetsk. Elena Sever herself told about the trip.

– For the second year in a row, we, with my sons Yuri and Vladimir, are celebrating the Day of Russia on the territory of the Northern Military District. This year we managed to visit Lugansk and Donetsk. In the beginning, we had to fulfill a humanitarian mission and went to Donetsk, where our cargo was very, very much expected.

– It was scary?

– I must say right away that as soon as we drove into the city, I realized that we did not hear the sound of artillery cannonade, although six months ago, long before the entrance to Donetsk, we shuddered from almost every minute of shell explosions. Of course, this is the merit of our guys, who pushed back the front, and the city residents began to sleep a little calmer, although there are still flights, and, as terrible as it is, civilians of the city still continue to die.

– What was the purpose of your visit?

– We were very much expected in the department of premature babies of the Third City Hospital. We brought special irradiators there for the treatment of postpartum jaundice. They collected money for six months. Until now, there were only a couple of devices that shone only from above. Now this problem has been solved at least in a single department for premature babies. We also donated medical furniture for patients and gifts to doctors there, because the Day of the Medic is approaching, and we really wanted to please all the medical staff.

Then the artists went to the Center for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood, which is located in the most shelled area of ​​the city of Donetsk.

“Dr. Bessonov works there as the chief doctor, who during the bombing covered babies connected to mechanical ventilation with his body for 6 hours,” Elena Sever continued her story, “We learned that this hospital has a problem with the lack of air conditioning for the intensive care unit, where newborns receive respiratory support, so there was no question of what to bring here. And in honor of the Day of the Medical Worker, we pleased the staff with a special gift: local doctors and nurses have long dreamed of a coffee machine. We learned this and specially bought it in advance, because during the duty they need to remain cheerful. But we did not even expect that this gift would bring so much joy, cause so many positive emotions and we would hear so many words of gratitude. By the way, the money for the purchase of equipment is a fundraiser that I organized in honor of my first solo concert. I want to say: “Thank you!” to all who responded to my call.

The performers also helped with the purchase of disposable intravenous catheters and infusion taps for droppers, which are in great need of patients in the hospital. All this was delivered to them.

– And the culmination of the holiday was our concert in Lugansk, where we performed together with the group “Earthlings”, – said Elena. – In Lugansk, in the assembly hall of the republican hospital, an award ceremony was held for medical staff who specially came here from different regions of the LPR. Honorary diplomas for professionalism and heroism were presented to them by the Minister of Health of the Republic.

“It was especially important for me to perform the song “Russia” that day,” the star emphasized, “which, by the way, as it turned out, is very well known here. The audience, as usual, enthusiastically sang along to all the hits of the “Earthlings”. And when in the final we started to perform “We need one victory”, the whole audience stood up and sang it with us to the end. At such moments, you understand that it is worth going on stage, – for the sake of such moments, for the sake of such moments, – Elena Sever finished her story.

Artists also brought gifts to the republican hospital in Lugansk: wheelchairs for transporting the wounded, including electric ones. Also, crutches, support sticks and adjustable walkers were delivered to help the wounded. One of the wheelchairs, according to YurKiss, will be given to a lonely elderly patient who, due to life circumstances, was left alone.
