Vice-Governor of the Murmansk Region Elena Dyagileva and Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Alexey Morozov launched the Russian Alpine Skiing Cup. The stages will be held in two cities in the region at once – Kirovsk and Polyarnye Zoryi, the government reports.
Dyagileva said that the region opened the ski season earlier than anyone else and has already managed to host several competitions. This confirms the status of Kirovsk as a powerful cluster, a point of attraction for athletes and winter sports enthusiasts.
It is noted that the Russian Cup will unite 250 people who will take part in 76 starts in 12 cities of the country. After competitions in Kusa, Moscow, Kaluga, Manzherok, Belokurikha, Yelezovo and other settlements, the strongest skiers will return to Kirovsk again to demonstrate their skills in the finals.
Among the participants are multiple champions of the Russian Federation Alexander Khoroshilov, Pavel Trikhichev and Yulia Pleshkova.
The first stage was supposed to begin on November 29. “MK in Murmansk” wrote that it was moved due to strong winds.
