Elements of NVP will return to high school: gap, dugout and grenades

The basics of life safety (OBZh) are being reformed in schools, but so far only in the senior 10-11th grades. The program will include many “activities” that are very reminiscent of the former CWP. For example, schoolchildren will study the provision of first aid in combat and the collection and disassembly of a machine gun for a while. Throwing grenades, shooting and “creating protective structures” are also expected.

Fundamentals of life safety (OBZh) in schools is a subject that has caused controversy before. Some thought that in order to live in the modern world, children needed more Internet safety techniques or financial literacy so as not to fall prey to hackers, phone scams, or robbery schemes. Others explained how important information on ecology, separate waste collection and assistance to socially vulnerable members of society is important for a person of the 21st century. Recently, the rhetoric around the subject has changed. In the State Duma and at the level of ministries and departments, proposals were made to return to school the initial military training (NVP), which had died in the post-Soviet period.

Today, life safety for high school students consists of 10 modules. There is “Fundamentals of Defense” and “Fundamentals of Military Service”, but these hours take up no more than a quarter of the entire course. By and large, now the subject is “peaceful”: a healthy lifestyle, the psychology of extreme situations, information security… course of life safety, director of the Center for Emergency Psychological Assistance of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia Yulia Shoigu. In her opinion, earlier in the life safety there was a bias between the theory of safe behavior and practice: “A lot was said about dangerous phenomena and very little about safety rules.” Like, there was a compressed course of rescuers and a little NVP, but more of this is needed.

In schools, as far as “MK” managed to find out, they also do not sound the alarm about changes in the course of “life activity”. Although they recognize that such excerpts from the recommendations as “personal protective equipment and first aid in combat.” Or “combined-arms protective kit (OZK)”, as well as the study of the internal structure of grenades of various systems, but especially “Constructions for the protection of personnel. Open gap. Covered gap. Dugout. Shelter for military equipment. Shelters for personnel” strain. Still, an ordinary school is not a military school.

No, we are not particularly worried. It is known that 2 modules will be changed, – says the head teacher of the Moscow school, Lidia Leonidova. – That is, out of those 10 sections that exist, two will change. We have equipment at the school: a mannequin, a stretcher, gas masks, respirators. There is also order with the teaching staff, there is someone to tell about everything related to rescue techniques, medical care and NVP. Here, small schools somewhere in the region will have to get out, probably. On the other hand, letters from our head department are advisory in nature. We couldn’t, for example, dig a trench in the school yard or build a dugout, so we’ll show it in the picture or watch the video …

Parents are known to have different attitudes towards the return of NVP to schools, and the news about changes in the OBJ course has revived the discussion. Some innovation is supported, “the child must be ready for formation and defense.” Others, especially mothers, nod that the 10th-11th grades are already a hot time, when their heads are filled with the preparation of the exam. And then some new programs and, perhaps, theoretical “homework” for 3 sheets.

– Yes, I’m for it! But all this should be done in high school, not in high school, – says Leonid, dad of a Moscow sixth grader. – It’s super there: all these stretchers, and run around in gas masks, throw grenades. Give girls first aid… And in the 10-11th grade, healthy foreheads, they will mow, and that’s it. And besides, many after the 9th grade leave school …

“I had a very negative experience with NVP,” says the mother of two students of the school, Anastasia. – We also had some kind of paramilitary physical education, all the time these grenades and crosses. I remember how we practiced at the stadium, and some people were sitting in the rows and laughing at how we threw wooden grenades. And, in fact, the NVP was in the building. You had to come in a military shirt and walk around in it all day. The assembly and disassembly of the Kalashnikov assault rifle was a gloom, nothing worked, I simply cried. Our military instructor was a retired officer, his girlish tears touched him, he gave us “fours”. I remember they were marching in ranks, putting on gas masks one by one. I don’t even know why children need all this today. Waste of time from the school curriculum, which is already oversaturated.
