The Constitutional Court ordered election commissions to clarify the biographical data of candidates in ballots and information posters, if time permits. The creation of barriers to this, the judges note, can undermine the credibility of the election commission as an independent body that ensures the implementation of citizens’ electoral rights on behalf of the state. But the data on the candidate’s criminal record, if one suddenly appears, should be clarified regardless of the timing, the court stressed.
