Eight-time world jiu-jitsu champion Leonardo Lo has been shot dead at a club in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The suspect is police officer Enrique Otavio Oliveira Veloso. He is arrested.
The crime happened during a concert. As told to the publication G1 eyewitnesses, one of the visitors provoked the athlete and his friends who were in the club. He allegedly took a bottle of alcoholic drink from their table, after which Leonardo Lo immobilized the visitor. Then the criminal took out a weapon and shot the athlete in the head. Law was hospitalized, and a few hours later doctors pronounced him brain dead.
33-year-old Leonardo Lo holds the record for the most victories in the World Jiu-Jitsu Championships. He is also a five-time World Cup winner and a four-time Pan American Games champion.
