Eight countries join EU sanctions against Belarus

Eight states have joined the new package of EU sanctions imposed on Belarus, informed press office of the Council of Europe.
The candidate countries North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EFTA (European Free Trade Association) countries Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, joined the decision of the Council.
“They will ensure that their national policy is consistent with the decision of the Council. The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
August 3 European Union expanded sanctions against Belarus for circumventing restrictions against Russia. The republic was banned from supplying products that contribute to the “military-technical improvement” of the country. It also prohibits the export of firearms, ammunition, and goods and technology suitable for use in the aviation and space industries.
In response to the imposed restrictions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus declaredthat the new EU sanctions testify to the continuation of the unfriendly policy of the West, and attempts to restrain the development of the country are doomed to failure.
