Egypt enlists the support of the Russian Federation in the issue of joining the BRICS

Egypt wants to join the BRICS and has received support from Russia in this matter. This was announced on Tuesday, August 22, by the former Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the current head of the Council on International Affairs, Mohammed Orabi.
According to the diplomat, “every state is trying to join an alliance or association, since the old alliances have almost collapsed” – the whole world “is in the process of restructuring alliances.”
At the same time, Orabi expressed his conviction that Egypt and Russia are largely capable of working together to strengthen peace, stability and development in the region.
In July, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah Sisi. Commenting on the cooperation between Russia and Egypt and the prospects for its further development, the Russian leader recalled that the states have already established strong ties in the energy sector.
The Russian ambassador in Cairo, Georgy Borisenko, noted that Egypt is aimed at developing trade and other economic cooperation with Russia, the ambassador added. According to him, work is underway to build new mechanisms of mutual settlements between countries.
