Butyrsky District Court of Moscow fined 30 thousand rubles. editor-in-chief of Mediazona (recognized as a foreign agent) Sergei Smirnov (recognized as a foreign agent) for not having a foreign agent label. This was reported by the editors with reference to the lawyer Vladimir Voronin.
The court found Sergei Smirnov guilty under Part 4 of Art. 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (lack of marking of a foreign agent), added in the editorial.
In September 2021, the Ministry of Justice included Sergei Smirnov in the register of foreign agents. In April 2022, Mr. Smirnov announced that he would not mark his posts as a foreign agent. In July 2022, Sergei Smirnov is already fined for lack of labeling. Then the fine amounted to 10 thousand rubles. He opposed the military special operation in Ukraine. Now he is outside of Russia.
