Since the beginning of the year, Russian Post has delivered 160 thousand letters and parcels to the zone of the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict. The head of the company, Mikhail Volkov, told RIA Novosti.
“Lots of letters and even more parcels. To date, there are about 160 thousand shipments. Parcels to the NWO zone can be sent free of charge. For this we receive many thanks, including from soldiers and their mothers,” reported Head of Russian Post.
As Mikhail Volkova said, despite the fact that the volume of letters sent by mail decreases annually, more than 800 million have been delivered since the beginning of the year. According to him, the demand for sending letters grows during the holidays.
The head of the company also said that during the flood in Primorye, Russian Post employees, together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, delivered parcels, letters and pensions, and during shelling of border areas, they sheltered village residents in the department.
As a representative of Donbass Post told Vedomosti in June, after joining Russia, direct exchange with Russian Post increased 2.5 times. Previously, there was no direct postal communication between the DPR and Russia, and all shipments passed through the village of Kuibyshevo on the border with the Rostov region. In May of this year, LPR Post accepted 41.9 thousand postal items for forwarding, which is 6.9% more than in May 2022.
