In Russia, the incidence of acute viral hepatitis B and C, active tuberculosis and HIV has not returned to pre-pandemic levels for the third year in a row.

Vladimir Chulanov, chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Health for infectious diseases, said that at the height of the pandemic, against the background of large-scale restrictions in Russia, the incidence of acute and chronic viral hepatitis B and C has significantly decreased. In 2022, after most restrictions were lifted, the incidence of acute hepatitis C increased, and the spread of hepatitis B remained at the same level as in 2021.
A similar situation has developed with the spread of tuberculosis. At the same time, the incidence of syphilis in Russia not only reached the levels of 2019, but also exceeded the pre-pandemic level.
