An informed source said that due to an accident in the thermal control system of the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft, instruments could fail.
“The situation is very serious,” the source said, noting that the accident occurred in a system that kept the ship at the right temperature and humidity.
Because of this, the ship will overheat in the Sun and freeze in the Earth’s shadow, which can cause equipment failure, the source explained.
Roskosmos, in turn, noted that the astronauts, after a visual inspection, confirmed a leak from the cooling system of the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft. At the same time, it is noted that now all the systems of the ISS and the ship are operating normally, and the crew is safe.
Now Roskosmos specialists are working on priority measures to ensure an acceptable thermal regime for the operation of instruments on the ship. At the same time, due to this accident, the launch of the next manned spacecraft Soyuz MS-23, which was scheduled for March 16, 2023, may be postponed to an earlier date.
Earlier, the spacewalk of Russian cosmonauts Sergei Prokopiev and Dmitry Petelin was postponed.
