Due to bad weather, more than 6.6 thousand residents of the Novosibirsk region were left without electricity

In the Novosibirsk region, due to gusty winds on the night of today, January 9, there were breaks in power grids, as a result of which more than 6.6 thousand people were without power supply. Lines were damaged in several areas of the region, reports press service of JSC Regional Energy Networks (RES). The shutdown included settlements in the Toguchinsky, Bolotninsky, Ordynsky, Cherepanovsky and Iskitimsky districts.
According to the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, electricity was cut off in 254 residential buildings. 15 emergency teams of JSC RES, more than 30 operational personnel, as well as 15 pieces of equipment are involved in eliminating the consequences of bad weather. The teams work around the clock. Currently, power supply to half of consumers has been fully restored. In the remaining areas, the company’s specialists continue to search and localize power line faults. The restoration process is affected by the difficult traffic situation on the highways – in some areas, traffic was stopped due to lack of visibility and due to strong cross winds, the company notes.
It is planned to fully restore power supply today, January 9. The day before, January 8, FSBI “West Siberian UGMS” reportedthat on the night of January 9 in Novosibirsk snow, sometimes blizzards and gusty southwest winds of up to 25 m/s are expected.
