Drugs for cancer and HIV added to the list of essential drugs

On the portal of legal information of the Russian government published a document according to which the list of vital and essential drugs included drugs for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Oncaspar), as well as a combination of antiretroviral therapy for patients with HIV (tenofovir, elsulfavirin, emtricitabine).
It is known that the new changes will come into force in two months.
Previously, pediatric oncologists complained about interruptions in the supply of drugs for children, especially with Oncaspar, which until recently was not included in the list of drugs registered in Russia.
Recall that in 2020, Prime Minister Mishustin signed a decree on the purchase without restrictions of vital and essential medicines, but then Oncaspar was not included in this list.
Then the Ministry of Health promised to lift restrictions on foreign drugs so that they could freely participate in purchases. One of the reasons for this was the appeal of more than five hundred parents of children with cancer to President Putin with a demand to cancel import substitution in pediatric oncology.
