Donetsk karatekas became winners of the Eurasian Cup

A dozen athletes from the Koshiki karate section performed at a prestigious tournament in Rostov.

A team of 12 athletes from the Koshiki karate section of the Palace of Children and Youth Creativity in Donetsk took part in the international tournament “Eurasia Cup” last weekend.

The competition took place in Rostov-on-Don on October 14. According to the team coach, international master of sports, world champion Sergei Poddubny, the guys had a little more than a month to prepare for the prestigious tournament.

“We gave 200% in training. We understood that it would not be easy to compete with other teams that were fully training all the time when our guys were in distance learning. But the mood was very good, the athletes were supported by their parents with all their might, and we were able to organize this trip,” said the team coach.

On the tatami, Donetsk guys entered into battles with representatives of various Russian clubs from Moscow, Sochi, Rostov-on-Don, as well as with athletes from Azerbaijan and Abkhazia. The result of the performance was 7 awards: one silver medal and two bronze in the kata section (fighting with an invisible opponent), as well as silver and three bronze in kumite (sparring). In addition, one of the athletes from the Donetsk section was awarded by the tournament organizers with a separate prize “For the will to win.”

And the next day, the young Donetsk residents had an unforgettable walk along the Rostov embankment and met the inhabitants of the local zoo. As the Donetsk coach explained, on such trips a collective spirit is formed for further development and motivation of the team to new achievements. After all, immediately upon returning home, the athletes began preparing for the All-Russian competitions.
