The doctor of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi Alberto Zangrillo said that the politician, who was hospitalized this week due to leukemia and a lung infection, is responding well to the course of treatment.
“His body is responding really well to therapy,” Zangrillo told reporters on Saturday.
He recalled that these are serious illnesses, and Berlusconi is 86 years old.
“But I am calm,” the doctor said, “first of all, because we are doing everything in our power.”
The ex-premier’s son, Luigi Berlusconi, also said that his father is feeling better, but without giving details.
Berlusconi has been in the intensive care unit of Milan’s San Raffaele hospital since Wednesday. There he began, among other things, a course of chemotherapy.
