A non-standard emergency while cleaning a traumatic gun happened to a 32-year-old resident of Dolgoprudny. A cartridge exploded inside the weapon, and the man actually lost his finger – he remained hanging on a thin piece of skin. However, the timely help of doctors gave hope that the amputated finger would take root and function.
As it became known to “MK”, an experienced shooter for the first time got into a terrible situation, which he still cannot find an explanation for. During the cleaning of the “injury” for no reason, a terrible explosion thundered. It turned out that a bullet got stuck in the barrel and detonated the cartridge. As a result, the bolt was torn off the pistol, the “heel” flew out at the clip, the bushing shifted and the ejector flew out. This explosion tore off the man’s finger, and he almost lost consciousness – from shock, pain and surprise. Fortunately, at that time there was a wife at home, who quickly reacted to the non-standard situation. She poured ice into the bag, put it on her husband’s palm and tied a towel around the wounded limb. In this form, the man was hospitalized.
– At the first stage, we made a thorough treatment of the wound and stopped the bleeding, – said the head of the trauma center of the Dolgoprudny hospital Maxim Tsymbal. – Then they applied an antiseptic bandage and fixed the finger with plaster. To prevent the wound from festering, the next day we sutured the wound and put stitches. The operation was successful, blood circulation in the finger was restored.
The patient was saved by the fact that the surgeons started the operation no later than an hour after the injury. Necrosis, that is, the death of tissues, has not yet had time to begin. In the ice, the finger was “preserved” quite well. However, whether it will be able to function fully in the future, time will tell.
