Dmitry Rogozin became a senator from the Zaporozhye region. The online publication Blokpad reported this on Saturday. The ex-director of Roscosmos himself confirmed the news of his appointment.
There is a new addition to the ranks of the Federation Council at the start of the autumn session. The former head of Roscosmos, leader of the Tsar’s Wolves division, Dmitry Rogozin, became a senator from the Zaporozhye region. According to the publication Notepad, the politician received a new appointment on Saturday, September 23.
Dmitry Rogozin himself published a short post on his Telegram channel confirming this news.
“It is an honor for me to defend the interests of the Zaporozhye region and New Russia as a whole,” the politician wrote.
The nomination of Dmitry Rogozin to the position of member of the Federation Council from the Zaporozhye region became known on September 18. Sources familiar with the situation reported that the ex-director of Roscosmos could become a senator from the head of the region, Yevgeny Balitsky. Now the Zaporozhye region is represented in the upper house of the Russian parliament by Dmitry Vorona. It was assumed that with Rogozin’s appointment he would also retain his seat in the Federation Council, but would represent the region’s legislative assembly in it.
It was also reported that in addition to Rogozin, a member of the Public Chamber of Russia, a representative of the administration of the Zaporozhye region and the head of the “We are together with Russia” movement, Vladimir Rogov, was considered for the post of senator.
Rogozin will become the first warring senator in the chamber. He went to the front after leaving Roscosmos, and last fall he headed the Tsar’s Wolves group of military advisers. In December, the politician was wounded in a restaurant on the outskirts of Donetsk, where he was celebrating his birthday. After treatment he returned to the front.
