Therapist Yulia Kovalenko told how living on the highest or lowest floors can affect his mental and physical health as a resident of the metropolis. In his detailed account “Gazete.Ru” she noted that those who live on the first floors are at risk for their lungs and immune system. And those who “climbed” above the seventh – the cardiovascular system and the stability of the mental state.
According to the expert, the risk factors on the first floors are dampness from unimproved basements, car exhausts and various fumes from the asphalt surface. After a certain limit, the human body is unable to “digest” all this.
“All this threatens with diseases of the pulmonary system, chronic diseases of the ENT organs and “allergization” of the body, for example, atopic dermatitis, vasomotor rhinitis and bronchial asthma. Also, living on the lower floors often causes a decrease in immunity,” said Yulia Kovalenko.
On the upper floors, the expert says, the risk factors are industrial smog and electromagnetic radiation. And at an extremely high altitude, above the twenty-fifth, these include the features of air conditioning systems, the inability to open windows and a high level of infrasonic vibrations.
“From these factors, you can expect panic attacks, sleep disturbances and insomnia, anxiety disorders, headaches, diseases of the upper respiratory tract and, as a result, susceptibility to respiratory infections,” warns Kovalenko, adding to this list of various kinds of vascular disorders and heart rhythm disturbances.
