Disabled genes responsible for thick fur found in humans

Scientists from the University of Pittsburgh made an interesting discovery. They found genes in humans that are responsible for the formation of thick hair on the body. And these genes are in a “disabled state”. The geneticists published the results of their research in the journal eLife.
In the article, scientists described that they were trying to find out the reasons why humans are much less hairy than other mammals. To this end, they studied more than 19,000 genes from dozens of different animals. It turned out that all hairless mammals mutated the same genes. Among them are those that are responsible for hair growth.
Evolution contributes to the fact that animals are forced to lose hair. Accordingly, the genes responsible for them lose their importance. This may be the cause of hair loss.
