Recent research by Omdia showed that the iPhone 14 was the world’s best-selling smartphone in the first half of this year. From January to June, Apple shipped 26.5 million units of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. This is more than any model of any manufacturer.

Omdia analysts have identified a change in shopping habits. Users have begun to purchase more expensive smartphones and are losing interest in devices of low and medium price ranges. This is indirectly confirmed by the second, third and fourth places in the ranking of the best sellers. These positions are also behind Cupertino products.

The volume of shipped 14 Pro amounted to 21 million units. The regular iPhone 14 is in third position with 16.5 million, and 1 million behind its base version predecessor last year. The top five is closed by the budget category device Samsung Galaxy A14. Over 12 million of these smartphones were delivered to the market in the first half of the year. Next comes the current South Korean flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra. His achievements almost exceeded the bar of 10 million units.

Devices from Chinese manufacturers were not included in the global top ten best-selling smartphones at all. Moreover, Omdia specialists revealed that shipments of smartphones from the Middle Kingdom decreased by half compared to the same period last year. Analysts named the decline in interest in the middle and low price segment as the key reason.

Taking into account the growing interest of users in premium models with flexible displays, as well as the peculiarities of Russian realities in the domestic market, we should expect an almost opposite situation. Namely, a noticeable growth and a leading position in terms of supplies from Chinese vendors.
