Macron announced details of the security agreement between Paris and Kiev
The newly signed security agreement between France and Ukraine is valid for ten years, and it will remain in force until Ukraine becomes a NATO member, French President Emmanuel Macron said. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Macron made a corresponding statement at a joint press conference with Zelensky in Paris.
According to Macron, the agreement provides for the allocation of military assistance to the Kyiv regime in the amount of 3 billion euros this year. He also noted that weapons compatible with NATO standards will be supplied to Ukraine, preparations will also be made and measures will be taken to strengthen the Ukrainian military-industrial complex, including the production of weapon systems in Ukraine together with companies from France.
The Presidents of France Emmanuel Macron and Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky signed a bilateral agreement on security guarantees. The meeting of heads of state took place in Paris on Friday, February 16. Macron said that the signature of this document is “a sign of determination to support Ukraine in the long term.” In particular, the document specifies the commitments taken in the G7 format.
Earlier it was reported that Vladimir Zelensky arrived in France to sign a document on security guarantees. Earlier, the President of Ukraine signed a similar agreement with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Zelensky indicated that the agreement provides for the allocation of more than 7 billion euros by Germany, clear contracts and arms supplies.
