Arina Suvorova, a dermatologist at the Budu online health management service, warned that sweets have a negative effect on skin condition.
In an interview with Moslenta, she noted that sweets accelerate skin aging. According to her, the more sugar enters the body, the less elastic and dense the skin becomes.
Moreover, the increased concentration of glucose makes the skin dry, dehydrated and dull.
Another factor is changes in the acidity of the skin, which entails such unpleasant phenomena as acne, rosacea and mycosis. In addition, atopic dermatitis and psoriasis are quite possible, Suvorova said.
She also noted that the more glycation products (compounds of sugars with proteins) accumulate in the skin, the brighter the skin reacts to sunburn – pigment spots appear, and then senile spots.
