Businessman Oleg Deripaska considers it necessary to recognize the genocide of the Cossacks of the White movement, who resisted the “Bolshevik dictatorship” during the Civil War, and to resolve the issue of restitution of the property of Russian citizens, nationalized in those years. This is how Mr. Deripaska commented on the memorandum on the end of the Civil War between the Whites and the Reds, signed the day before in the State Duma.

Oleg Deripaska believes that simply signing a memorandum on the end of the Civil War will not be enough. “And the issues of restitution of the nationalized property of Russian citizens, which took place more than 100 years ago, have not yet been resolved. About the restoration of rights, about perpetuating in the memory of many heroes of resistance to the Bolshevik dictatorship over these 70 years,” Mr. Deripaska wrote in Telegram.

“Not to mention the millions of ruined and repressed Cossacks and members of their families, who, at best, were deprived of their liberty and homeland, and at worst, their lives. Recognition of this criminal genocide should also become an element of reconciliation, because the descendants have not forgotten. And yet they can’t forgive, ”the businessman added.

March 13 State Duma Deputy Dmitry Kuznetsov informed on the signing of a memorandum on the end of the Civil War of 1917-1922 between the whites and the reds. According to the deputy, the document was signed by representatives of the political movements that opposed during the war: Roman Antonovsky from the monarchists, Alexei Chadayev from the right-left LKPN, German Sadulaev from the Bolsheviks, Vladlen Tatarsky from the Makhnovist anarchists, Andrey Korobov-Latyntsev from the Socialist-Revolutionaries, and Anastasia Udaltsova from the Communist Party, Stanislav Naumov from the Liberal Democratic Party and Nikolai Novichkov from A Just Russia.

According to various estimates, from 10 to 17 million people died during the Civil War of 1917-1922, while the share of military losses was 20%. About 2 million people left Russia.
