State Duma Vice Speaker Anna Kuznetsova said that the property of citizens who left Russia can be used to provide housing for orphans. This may also apply to real estate organizations from unfriendly countries.
“There are those who betrayed their country. There are those people who left the country, there are those organizations on the territory of Russia, the owners of which are people from unfriendly countries. Maybe in search of funds for housing orphans to turn and look for resources in this direction? Today we see that anxiety is accumulating in this block, ”said Anna Kuznetsova at a meeting on providing housing for orphans in Kemerovo (TASS quote).
Mrs. Kuznetsova reminded that 288,000 orphans are waiting for housing. Same numbers before led children’s ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova. According to Anna Kuznetsova, 600 billion rubles will be required to provide them with housing. “For comparison, the budget for fulfilling obligations to orphans last year amounted to 38 billion rubles, of which 10 billion rubles are federal budget funds. The regions add the rest,” she added.
By data of the Unified State Social Security Information System, in January 2022, 298 thousand orphans were on the list for housing. In February of the same year, Anna Kuznetsova reported that 213,000 of them had reached adulthood. In 2021, there were 288 thousand people in the queue, in 2020 – 283 thousand people.
January 13 State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin offered to change the articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on incitement to extremism, the rehabilitation of Nazism or the discrediting of the armed forces. In his opinion, they should include a clause on confiscation of property. Andrey Klishas, Head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building allowedthat the seizure of property is possible with appropriate amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
