Deputy Chairman of the State Duma from the “New People” Vladislav Davankov sent an appeal to Roskomnadzor with a request to officially declare that the rainbow is not associated with LGBT people. Using a rainbow image is not an administrative or criminal violation, reports TASS.

“I ask you, dear Andrei Yuryevich, to publish an official message on the Roskomnadzor website that the use of the rainbow is not an administrative or criminal violation, and the rainbow has nothing to do with LGBT people,” Mr. Davankov indicated in the letter.

According to the politician, the official explanation of the department will reduce the number of “absurd cases of persecution” for using the image of a rainbow. The clarifications will also help reduce the burden on law enforcement agencies.

According to the deputy, after the adoption of the law, complaints to the police and Roskomnadzor due to the use of the rainbow image became more frequent. He noted that due to the law and complaints, more official sites are “wary of using the rainbow image.”

November 8, TNT channel discolored a rainbow in a K-pop group’s video. October 31, the owner of the TV channel received four administrative protocols for violating the law on LGBT propaganda among minors (Part 2 of Article 6.21.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). On November 3, proceedings were launched against the Eksmo publishing house under the same article of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. Then the police revealed propaganda in the comic book “Dove Gennady”. As part of the administrative investigation, a linguistic examination was ordered.
