Deputy Ostanina proposed to plant for five years for repeated LGBT propaganda

The head of the State Duma Committee on Family Affairs, Nina Ostanina, has developed a bill on criminal liability for repeated violations of LGBT propaganda, pedophilia and gender reassignment. Ms. Ostanina proposes to introduce three new criminal articles into the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. This was reported “RIA News” with a link to the document. In turn, Deputy Head of the State Duma Committee on Legislation Irina Pankina statedthat it is still premature to discuss criminal liability for LGBT propaganda.

According to the document, criminal liability will occur in the event of a repeated violation if a person has previously been brought to administrative responsibility for similar offenses. RIA Novosti does not provide the numbers of articles that are proposed to be supplemented by the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The bill proposes to punish:

• For propaganda of LGBT people and gender reassignment in the media or the Internet – correctional or forced labor for up to two years, arrest for four months or imprisonment for up to two years.
• Spreading propaganda among children – forced labor for up to four years or imprisonment for five years.
• Propaganda of pedophilia – forced labor for up to four years or imprisonment for five years.
• Propaganda of LGBT among children – imprisonment for six months.
• LGBT propaganda among children through the media or the Internet – forced labor for up to two years or imprisonment for two years.

December 5 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law providing for a ban on the promotion of non-traditional sexual relations and preferences, the promotion of pedophilia, as well as the dissemination of information that could cause minors to desire to change their sex. The law introduces fines for individuals (up to 800 thousand rubles), for officials (up to 800 thousand rubles), for legal entities (up to 10 million rubles).
