State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov proposed making voluntary sterilization of women possible only for medical reasons associated with a threat to life. He considers it necessary to completely ban male sterilization (vasectomy). He sent a corresponding appeal to the head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, reports RT.
Mr. Milonov explained his initiative by the demographic problem. He argues that sterilization has become accepted as an acceptable method of contraception. “I ask you to consider the possibility of changing the rules governing the procedure for voluntary sterilization of female citizens in terms of its admissibility solely for medical reasons that threaten life. As for male sterilization (vasectomy), I ask you to consider the possibility of completely excluding it from the list of medical services provided in our country,” the deputy wrote.
This spring it is planned to introduce a bill to the State Duma banning abortions in private clinics.
