Deputy Khamzaev proposed buying children from women who decided to have an abortion

The fresh idea of State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev – to financially encourage women who decide, instead of having an abortion, to give birth to a child and hand it over to be raised by the state – has caused mixed reviews. The reason for this, presumably, is not only the complexity of the topic raised, but also the reputation of the deputy. Unfortunately, the deputy loves to make noise out of nothing.
For reference: during his seven-year stay in the Public Chamber and a little over two years in the Duma, Khamzaev issued many loud, but wonderful initiatives that did not have any consequences and, it seems, had no other consequences besides attracting attention to his person and were not intended .
Khamzaev, for example, proposed increasing leave for non-smoking employees by 10 days, limiting the launch of fireworks to five days a year and limiting the sale of alcohol to five liters per person per year. One of the latest initiatives that brought fame to the deputy was the proposal to exclude the study of English from the school curriculum.
But it’s not for nothing that people say: “Once a year a stick shoots.” We do not undertake to judge the exact efficiency of the parliamentarian, but his latest idea suggests that, fortunately, it is not zero. There is a sound grain in the idea, yes. Although, we admit, it is not possible to see it right away.
At first glance, such a measure will only encourage antisocial parents to abandon their children. Which, of course, can’t help but outrage: for such cuckooing, they should be torn like Sidorov’s goat, and not rewarded. By the way, let us remind you that even today nothing and no one prevents unwanted children from being placed in the care of the state.
And they don’t scold or punish for this at all, although some of these would-be mothers and fathers would obviously benefit from a thrashing. However, we must, of course, make allowances for the fact that people have different circumstances. There are also completely irresistible forces.
But in any case, such behavior has not yet been considered a social norm. Now, for this deviation, for this crime against one’s own child – and to a large extent before society, on whose shoulders the care of the child now falls – it is also proposed to pay. Regardless of the circumstances that forced you to take such a step. Wouldn’t it be too greasy?
We must also take into account that we are talking about people who so much do not want to have children, who consider them so much a burden that they are not even interested in the fairly generous measures of state support that lie ahead – maternity capital and all kinds of benefits. Those who only need cash – here and now. And a child is not needed at all.
This category of citizens is probably small. Let us, in any case, hope that it is small. But it certainly exists. Much to our misfortune. In fact, it is precisely the presence of such a category that prevents us from treating the idea of “child trafficking” as deliberate nonsense.
Parents who are ready to sell their child to the state can sell him to anyone and for anything. We won’t elaborate: the possible options are easy to imagine. Or they might just kill you. Or kill him – no investigation will get to the bottom of this at all.
In a word, the stupid thing is simple: there are many ways to destroy or cripple the life of a little man. There are incomparably fewer ways to save him in such circumstances. And the one proposed by Deputy Khamzaev is perhaps not the worst of them.
