Vice Speaker of the State Duma Boris Chernyshov said “RIA News”that, according to a sociological survey, the average father in Russia spends 35 minutes a day with his children. The MP called this situation a hidden epidemic of fatherlessness. The survey was conducted by members of his team.

The survey was conducted from 20 to 27 July. Men were asked to fill out a questionnaire on social networks or on the streets of Moscow. The study involved 1.2 thousand people.

“The results of our survey are depressing. We can state the epidemic of latent fatherlessness in Russia. There is, as it were, a dad, but there is no dad,” said Mr. Chernyshov.

According to the survey results, 18% of respondents spend 15 minutes or less a day communicating with their children. 56% of respondents explained this trend by being busy with work and household chores. 23% do not know how to spend time with children. 89% would like to pay more attention to children, 53% believe that interesting leisure does not fit into the family budget.
