Georgian law enforcement officers detained 9 participants in a rally against Russian tourists in Batumi, RIA Novosti reports citing a statement by the Georgian Interior Ministry.
The detainees reportedly protested against the entry into the port of Batumi of a cruise ship carrying tourists from Russia.
The report says that earlier the protesters were repeatedly warned about the illegality of their action, but they did not obey the legal requirements of law enforcement officers.
The actions of representatives of the opposition parties of Georgia, who protested against the entry of the Astoria Grande liner into the port of Batumi, have been continuing since last week. According to the protesters, such a call violates international sanctions, although the liner itself flies the flag of Palau. It was also reported that Russian tourists aboard the Astoria Grande sang the song “Katyusha” for the protesting Georgian opposition.
