First Deputy Chairman of the RF State Duma Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environment Vladimir Burmatov in an interview with Radio Sputnik urged Russian citizens to refuse to purchase live gifts for the New Year.
It is noted that against the background of the fact that the symbol of the coming year will be the Black Dropsy Rabbit, or, according to another version, the Cat, many are considering buying these animals as gifts. However, the deputy stressed that Russians need to understand that live gifts are not the best option in this situation.
Burmatov clarified that the issue in this case is consciousness. The parliamentarian clarified that cats and rabbits are not toys or souvenirs, and they should not be presented for the New Year. According to the deputy, many do not know how a person will react to such a gift, whether he will be ready to support, be responsible, provide care and spend money on an animal.
