Demobilized students from the DPR and LPR will be given the right to transfer to the budget

The United Russia faction has introduced an initiative that will give the right to students from the DPR and LPR who fought in the People’s Militia to transfer from a paid to a budget-funded form of education. The amendments were submitted for the second reading of the bill on the integration of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions with Russia in the field of education and science, said Andrey Turchak, Secretary of the United Russia General Council.

“The amendments we have made not only simplify the return of yesterday’s fighters to universities and colleges of the LDNR, but also make it possible to continue their education for free, regardless of their previous academic performance,” Mr. Turchak wrote in Telegram channel.

In February last year, a general mobilization was announced in the DPR and LPR, including students of local universities and colleges. After the regions were annexed to Russia on September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the demobilization of all students.

January 24 in the State Duma in the first reading accepted draft law on the integration of the annexed regions and Russia in the field of education. According to it, all academic degrees obtained in these territories will be recognized in Russia before accession. Students will also be able to receive Russian documents on education and transferred from universities of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to educational institutions in Russia.
