The number of vacancies in the IT industry has decreased by 25% since January 2022 (from 114.6 thousand to 85.2 thousand), and the number of resumes from them has increased by 55% (from 211.1 thousand to 327 thousand) . At the same time, for the first half of 2021, the growth of resumes posted on the site amounted to only 12%. The maximum number of vacancies in the IT industry was in February – 126.9 thousand, after which this figure decreased every month. This is evidenced by the data of the HeadHunter survey, which leads RBC.
According to the president of the Russoft Association, Valentin Makarov, the demand for IT specialists has decreased due to the fact that employees of foreign companies went to work in Russian companies in spring and summer. Therefore, most of the vacancies were filled. He also noted that the reduction could be caused by a reduction in the export of IT services from Russia.
Natalia Danina, Chief Labor Market Expert, Head of Client Efficiency at HeadHunter, argues that the growth in resumes is due to an increase in the number of candidates for junior positions after completing popular online courses.
After the start of the military operation in Ukraine and the sanctions that followed it, the Russian authorities began to support the IT industry: for example, they exempted IT companies from taxes for three years, provided their employees with a deferment from the army, and also launched preferential mortgages for them at 5%.
