The court in the Tver region sent under house arrest the dean of the circus arts department of the Tver College of Culture named after V.I. N. A. Lvov Mikhail Volnukhin. He was charged under Art. 135 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Indecent acts”) and Art. 242 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Illegal production and circulation of pornographic materials or items”).

The basis for initiating a criminal case was the complaints of college students about the harassment of a teacher. They told the publication “Dash”that the 54-year-old teacher wrote them “obscene messages, asked about their sexual life and persuaded them to intimacy.” Girls are aware of at least seven cases of harassment.

The mother of one of the students said that she tried to solve the problem through the leadership of the college, but there was no reaction. In June, four students wrote a statement to the police, and when it was not accepted, they turned to the department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Tver Region. On June 22, Mikhail Volnukhin was detained. On what day the court ruled on house arrest, “Devil” did not specify.

After the detention of the teacher, the senior students began to threaten the girls who told about the harassment. “They said that we withdrew the application and took the documents from the college, since they would not let us finish our studies here anyway. They will collect signatures and they will release him, and then it will only get worse for us,” said 16-year-old student Daria.

Mikhail Volnukhin is a master of sports of the USSR in sports acrobatics, a judge of the All-Russian and international category. In Tver College, he teaches the basics of circus genres, physical education, acrobatics and the history of the circus.
