The head of the Department for organizing the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Philip Nemov said that in 2022, fraudsters stole 500 million rubles from one of the Russians. This amount was a record for the year.
Fraudsters resort to social engineering techniques and can “pump out” money for weeks, said Nemov, who is referred to 1prime.ru.
The actions of those who follow the instructions of the scammers fall under the agreement between the citizen and the bank, and therefore the bank has no grounds for reimbursement of funds, Nemov said.
