How reports Dominican Today agency, Spanish singer Julio Iglesias, considered the most commercially successful Spanish-language performer, was detained by customs officers at the Dominican airport.
It is clarified that the singer attracted the attention of customs officers because he was trying to smuggle more than 40 kilograms of food in his suitcase.
“The 80-year-old singer was flying from the Bahamas. Customs officers found on him meat, berries, vegetables and fruits prohibited for transportation by Dominican sanitary standards,” the report says.
The singer’s food was confiscated, and he himself was detained for several hours.
