Criminalist Mikhailov: modern smartphones monitor the conversations of their owners

Group-IB digital forensics specialist Igor Mikhailov in a conversation with the agency “Prime” warned about the surveillance of modern smartphones over the conversations of their owners.

According to the expert, devices collect data about their owners in this way. This happens on a regular basis.

This is not only about a telephone conversation, but also about spying on conversations that take place near the phone.

Mikhailov pointed out that, if desired, the information received can be used against users.

There is a possibility of wiretapping with the help of special malware. Many attackers, the expert notes, are happy to take advantage of other people’s conversations for criminal purposes.

Mikhailov revealed to smartphone users that it would not be possible to completely protect themselves from wiretapping. But there are a couple of tips.

It is not necessary to give full access to applications to the voice recorder and smartphone camera. You should not download and upload applications from unverified sources. It is necessary to remove unused programs and restrict their access to geolocation.
