Eternal pain in the back, spasms, cramping limbs. This is not a description of some patient who fell under the supervision of doctors, but the story of a Pskov woman who once decided to change her life.

Irina Kolosova is 38 years old, she works full time at the computer, in a sitting position, sometimes it is not even possible to get up and go out for lunch. A woman came to the clinic for an appointment with a doctor for an opportunity to relieve joint pain, and the doctor advised her to go to a fitness center. To Pilates.

At first it seemed to me that this practice of passive standing in some poses would not help my well-being in any way, – says Irina. – But after a month of classes, I flew, the pain disappeared, and my gait became more beautiful, grace increased, and I began to hear the crunch in the cervical spine less and less. And I called my colleagues.

The group in which our heroine is engaged is already 2 years old. And in the summer, its participants specially arrange “country” and “forest” Pilates parties, to which they invite their neighbors, friends and all interested citizens to show them what hidden possibilities of the body open up for those who try Pilates.

They write about their meetings on their pages on social networks, in the fitness club group, and in the most popular Pskov publics. The most numerous Pilates training with their participation gathered more than 50 people.

But still, it’s not the quantity that matters, but the quality.– explains Irina. – And it’s better when there are only 3-5 people in training. So you can relax and find your rhythm during exercise.

It is interesting

The inventor of Pilates, Joseph Pilates, was born in 1883 in Mönchengladbach, Germany. Josef grew up as a very sickly and weak boy, suffering from asthma, rickets and rheumatic fever. His father Friedrich, who was involved in gymnastics and weightlifting, believed that healing could come through physical activity. And it really helped – by the age of 14, Josef became strong and practically forgot about old diseases. His body became so perfect that the boy was even invited to pose for an anatomical atlas.

Pilates himself called the developed system controlology – from the word control (control), since the main thing in it, according to Josef’s idea, was precisely control over one’s body and mind. Pilates believed that “the body is created by the mind” and without proper psychological preparation, there is practically no point in physical exercises.

Tips from experienced adepts of the direction

1. With the help of Pilates, you can improve your concentration and coordination. Also, regular exercise helps to reduce stress, which is especially important in our difficult time.

2. Those who practice Pilates improve their endurance performance. That is why rehabilitation doctors often advise their patients to pay attention to Pilates, as a way to help recover from an injury to the musculoskeletal system.

3. This practice is good because there are no age restrictions. There are formats of classes where six-month-old children can also perform exercises, and each Pskovian can determine the upper “ceiling” of age for himself. One of the world famous Pilates trainers posted a photo of himself with 78 candles on a cake on social networks.

You can, but be careful!

Despite the advantages of Pilates gymnastics that we have listed, we should not forget about contraindications. As traumatologist Inna Zavyalova told MK in Pskov, there are few contraindications, but they do occur: elevated body temperature (both momentary and permanent), a period of exacerbation of chronic diseases, oncology at high stages.

With caution, it is worth approaching classes for those Pskov residents who have varicose veins confirmed by a doctor, osteoporosis, or have heart disease.
