Deputy Commander of the Volunteer Assault Corps Nikolai Dyakonov said that Cossacks from the Don and Dnepr brigades affectionately call the Kinburn Spit, the defense of which has been ongoing for many months, “Our Lukomorye.”

He explained that this old Russian word, known thanks to Pushkin, in one sense is a coast of a curved shape.

Dyakonov believes that this piece of land established a strong connection between modern Cossacks and their ancestors, who fought here under the command of the great commander Suvorov.

“All these beautiful, magnificent places are our historical land. We will not give it to anyone,” said the deputy commander of the Volunteer Assault Corps, adding that the Cossacks will return to Ochakov.

“We will plant the Russian flag there. We will liberate Odessa, Kherson, and Nikolaev,” Dyakonov emphasized.
