Head of the Department of Assistance Programs of the Federal Security Service Vasily Dvornikov, reports RBC with reference to a source close to the FSB.

At the same time, Kommersant’s source in the FSB notes that there was no presidential decree on resignation; the general himself was at work. According to another Kommersant source, rumors about the resignation appeared after his first deputy arrived at the meeting instead of Mr. Dvornikov.

RBC claims that Vasily Dvornikov retired, and the position is temporarily occupied by his first deputy.

Mr. Dvornikov headed the FSB Assistance Programs Directorate in 2002, replacing Alexander Zdanovich, who moved to work as Deputy General Director of VGTRK. Before this, Vasily Dvornikov held the position of deputy of this department.

The FSB Assistance Programs Directorate oversees the agency’s interaction with the media. The department, in particular, includes the FSB Public Relations Center.
