The details of a high-profile criminal case involving the explosion of a gift box, which ended on Wednesday with a verdict from the capital’s Trinity Court, have been revealed. “I wanted to scare her so that she wouldn’t take gifts from other men,” this is how the young man who sent the girl who rejected him a box with an incendiary device explained his action.
As MK previously reported, a 22-year-old resident of New Moscow received a terrible gift on February 20. The neighbor said that on the bench on the street there was an elegant box addressed to the girl. She took the gift, brought it into the entrance, opened it, and immediately after that there was an explosion. The girl received 1st and 2nd degree burns to her face and fingers. Soon, a 26-year-old resident of Troitsk was detained and admitted to manufacturing this item. He also explained the reason for his action.
A young man met a girl in a common company. At some point, he considered that they were already ripe for a romantic relationship. But his opinion really surprised the girl. Although she and the young man lived in the same residential complex, they did not even have a strong friendship, let alone any love relationship. And when her admirer confessed his feelings to her, she rejected him.
The man became jealous of the girl. He saw her more than once in the company of other young people who gave her gifts. So that his beloved would stop accepting offerings, he decided to scare her. Therefore, the attacker made a “cracker” with an incendiary device, packaged it, tied it with a bow and signed it. In the young man’s understanding, the girl was injured simply because she violated safety requirements – she opened the box indoors and shook it.
The man apologized to the victim.
Taking into account the evidence presented by the state prosecutor of the prosecutor’s office of the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky districts, the court found the man guilty of attempted murder in a generally dangerous manner and sentenced him to 9 years in a maximum security colony. The young man’s mother was shocked by the verdict and cried bitterly after the announcement. He himself showed no emotion.
