Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the convicts participating in the military operation in Ukraine have atoned for their guilt. The head of state made this statement during a meeting with soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces who distinguished themselves during the fighting near Urozhainy in the southern Donetsk direction.

“Two more soldiers fought together with you, practically in the trench. They came voluntarily to the armed forces from prison. they died. Well, first of all I want to say that we are all human. Everyone can make some mistakes. But they gave their lives for their homeland and they atoned for their guilt in full,” said the President of the Russian Federation (quoted from website Kremlin). He promised to do everything to help their loved ones. After this, Vladimir Putin proposed to honor the memory of the fallen members of the North Military District with a minute of silence.

Also, during the meeting with military personnel, the head of state said that he had received an oral and written report from the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, about the courage and heroism of the Russian military during the fighting during the special operation. Vladimir Putin also said that he would like to discuss with the fighters, as people fighting on the front line, their assessment of the situation in the Northern Military District zone, how combat work is organized, whether anything has changed recently and what is missing. The President asked to tell him what should be paid attention to both “immediate commanders and those who command higher troops.”
