Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrei Kartapolov said that the numerical parameters of conscription remain unchanged. He claims that conscripts will not be sent to the military operation zone.
“Naturally, they won’t,” Mr. Kartapolov answered the corresponding question from Interfax.
From January 1, 2024, the upper limit of conscription age in Russia was raised to 30 years, while the lower limit remained at 18 years. Andrey Kartapolov saidthat increasing the draft age is necessary for a stable number of conscripts.
Spring military conscription in Russia runs from April 1 to July 15. In December 2023, the State Duma approved amendments providing for the possibility of performing military service upon conscription in the FSB. Conscripts who have signed a contract with the FSB can take part in a military operation in Ukraine.
