“Conquer Sparrow Hills!” – a joint project of the Moskovsky Komsomolets publishing house and Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov. Live from the MK press center, experts spoke about the conditions, timing of the Olympiad and benefits for admission.
“This year the Olympiad “Conquer Sparrow Hills!” celebrates its 19th anniversary,” says Oleg Vorobyov, Deputy General Director of Moskovsky Komsomolets. “Nineteen years ago, in the youth department, fellow journalists discussed what could be new and interesting, and suggested creating a unique Olympiad, thanks to which students from different regions of Russia could enter the best universities in the country.”
According to Oleg Vorobyov, the main goal of the Olympiad is to find talented children in the most remote places in Russia: “The main problem for these applicants is financial: it’s hard to get there, it’s expensive, you have to live somewhere. That is, the main uniqueness of the Olympiad is that we cover all the expenses of 10th and 11th graders to those sites where face-to-face rounds take place.
“Traditional dates are November, December and January of the current year,” says Deputy Vice-Rector – Deputy Head of the Department for Work with Talented Youth of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Mikhail Kopchikov. – To become a participant, you need to register before January 16 and be sure to read the documents that set out the basic rules for participation.
As for benefits, all Russian universities publish on their website benefits for Olympiads, including Conquer Sparrow Hills!. The winners of the Olympiad enter without entrance examinations, the winners are credited with 100 points in the subject. But in order to get a benefit, you need to get at least 75 points in the core subject of the Unified State Examination.
